The Next Adventure

Starting late July, I start on my next big thru hike. 1200 miles and 73 days spanning the northern half of the Pacific Crest Trail, from Stevens Pass just east of Seattle, south to Donner Pass near Lake Tahoe. I'm all packed and ready to go. I hope I haven't forgotten anything! The goal for day 1 is a saddle that should make for a beautiful place to camp, 12 miles in with 3800 vertical feet of climbing. I'm sure that pack won't feel so light by then!

That's a little under 15 pounds of gear there, plus 3 more for the backpack, giving me a base weight a hair below 18 pounds for this trip. With the short water carries in Washington, total pack weight will range from about 20 to 28 pounds each week. Not bad, not bad at all.
